Who Is Pokimane?
Pokimane, or Imane Anys, is a 27-year-old social media personality and Twitch streamer that rose to Internet fame in 2017. She started off streaming on livestreaming platform, Twitch, playing League of Legends in her college dorm. Now, she has over 9.4 million followers on Twitch. She’s one of the most popular female streamers, not just on Twitch, but in the entire livestreaming industry. You can find her on Twitch streaming games like VALORANT, World of Warcraft, and Fortnite.
Despite being a wildly successful Twitch streamer, Pokimane doesn’t only make gaming content. She recently took a break away from content creation, only to come back on September 1, 2022, with a YouTube video explaining her absence. In the video, the streamer went on to say that although she loves livestreaming, she also wants to explore other genres of content, like lifestyle. And she’s stuck to that. There is a wide variety of different content on her YouTube channel, from vlogs to fitness videos.
Now, she’s diving into entrepreneurship. Pokimane’s already tried her hand at business before, acting as the Chief Creative Officer of RTS, a talent management firm. She’s also teased an upcoming podcast called ‘don’t tell anayone with pokimane’, with a 50 second trailer already available on Spotify. But it seems like Myna Snacks has been in the works for ages now, and Pokimane’s more than ready to share it with her fans.
Myna Snacks: Snack Happy
For weeks, Pokimane has been teasing the launch of Myna Snacks on both her social media accounts and through in-person marketing. Last month during TwitchCon in Las Vegas, Nevada, business cards were handed out with a link to a website called pokisecret.com. The website had an exclusive sign-up for fans. That way, they could hear the announcement first. This secret turned out to be Myna Snacks.
To help launch her brand, Pokimane teamed up with ex-Kellogg executive, Darcey Macken. According to the Myna Snacks website, all products are made with plant-based, real ingredients. The snacks are also GMO-free, gluten-free, and grain-free, while also containing a good source of vitamin D. The first product, the Midnight Mini Cookies, are filled with deep chocolate, white chips, and sea salt. The cookies come in 4, 8, and 12 packs.
“Most snacks were filled with things I couldn’t feel good about. So we created Myna.” Pokimane said. And it seems like she decided to tackle the problem head-on. There is still no news about any upcoming products, but it seems like Pokimane’s open to suggestions. On the website, there is a Snack Lab that allows visitors to create their own cookie. From flavor to shape to texture, Pokimane’s fans can help her craft her next product.
@glew.ee Popular Twitch streamer and content creator, Pokimane, just launched her newest brand, Myna Snacks! The company currently only has one product, which are the Midnight Mini Cookies, which are GMO-free, preservative-free, vitamin D filled treats meant to make you feel good while snacking. 🍪 Pokimane, like many other influencers, is now attempting to expand her content monetization by diving into business. Building a new brand based off your personal one is one of the most effective monetization methods for content creators, as we’ve already seen with Mr Beast’s Feastables, Logan Paul and KSI’s PRIME, and Emma Chamberlain’s Chamberlain Coffee. With so much hype building around Myna Snacks, we’re wondering: will Pokimane be the next big content creator entrepreneur? 👩💼 #pokimane #mynasnacks #twitch #twitchstreamer #influencers #ludwig #scarra #offlinetv #mogulmoney #offbrand #twitchcon #rflct #valkyrae
Influencer to Entrepreneur Pipeline
Pokimane is not the first in the influencer industry to try a hand at entrepreneurship. Many content creator, after finding incredible success as an influencer, tend to pivot towards business to monetize both their creativity and their influence. Some other notable brands include Chamberlain Coffee by Emma Chamberlain, PRIME by Logan Paul and KSI, and Feastables by Mr Beast.
However, in the livestreaming space, creating businesses directly connected to content creation seems to be the norm. YouTube streamer and Mogul Money host, Ludwig, is the co-founder of OFFBRAND, a creative studio for creators. And ex-League of Legends pro, Scarra, is the co-founder of Offline TV, a content house and team. But Pokimane remains one of the few to venture outside of the entertainment industry completely with her business, diving into the world of healthy, natural, and GMO/preservative-free snacks.
Other female livestreamers, like Valkyrae, have attempted to do this before, but were unfortunately unsuccessful. In fact, she and the brand were met with controversy. Valkyrae created a blue-light preventing skincare line back in 2021 called RFLCT that was met with intense backlash after the public criticized the lack of credible research on the validity of blue light pollution.
But it seems like Myna Snacks is currently being hyped up all around the Internet. With so much buzz, Pokimane might just be the next big content creator entrepreneur.
